Note: This adventure comes from “Barrow of the Forgotten King”, by Ed Stark, as published by Wizards of the Coast.

9 March 1111

After nearly being wiped out by the Hobgoblin Cleric, the main group returns to Kingsholm to rest. The find Hergon, the halfling cleric and ask him about getting diseases (especially lycanthropy) cured. Hergon tells them he cannot help them, but that the cleric in Hardanger might be able to. The party buys a donkey to help them make the trek to Hardanger.

Ash and Líkami return from their “babysitting” duties and tell them of a druid they met named Cordelia. She not only has healing spells, but also offered them to the party as long as they pursued the evil threatening the region.

The party travels to the foreigners encampment outside town where Cordelia heals Heilli of his magical disease, but is unable to cure his blindness. The party spends the night.

10 March 1111

Yosi wakes up suffering from “Filth Fever” (an infliction contracted from the Wererat the previous day). Cordelia is able to cure him – and (as a precaution) also casts her “Remove Disease” spell on Freyrik. Since Heilli is useless without his sight, the party decides to travel to Hardanger to see Baron Erik and ask for help.

After a day-long trip, the party arrives in Hardanger. They tell Baron Erik about the troubles in Kingsholm and he sends them to the local temple, along with a letter of introduction. The priest, a man named Sebastian, is unable to help that day, but says he can cure Heilli's blindness the next morning.

11 March 1111

In Hardanger, the local priest, Sebastian, casts “Remove Blindness” on Heilli. The party sells some of the loot they pulled from the dungeon, buys some new equipment, then returns to Kingsholm.

Interlude 1

Far away, a man jogs past the last few yards of the clearing and steps hurriedly into the cave entrance. He stops and turns to check behind him, a habit formed over years of living in a hostile land. The morning sun has already burned away most of the mist – is he really that late? – but the forest canopy below is still obscured. He locks his gaze on the spire – the only object from horizon to horizon not made by nature. At this distance, he can't tell if any of the watchers are present on the upper balcony, but he assumes they are. They always are. The rising sun is behind him, so he knows they can't see him even if they know where to look. Still, caution backs him deeper into the darkness of the cave. It would be very bad if they found him now. He is so close – and his targets have almost certainly awakened by now – if they are not already underground.

Back into the dungeon…

Area 11) Decipher the riddle and open the magically sealed door; Retrieve a cache of magic items.

Area 12) Discover a "draft good" given to Krootad, “a Hobgoblin” from the “House of Circlet”.

Area 13) Dark Islands – fight a Lurking Strangler.

Area 14) Enter a twisty maze of passages, all alike. The party is tricked by a Magma Mephit into splitting into three groups. While split, Heilli and Líkami fight a pair of Fiendish Dire Weasels.

Interlude 2

The heat from the furnace greets and soothes the man as he approaches it. The decades in this climate have done little to adapt him to the cold, so the perpetual fire here is always a welcome respite. Today, however, he has another use for it. He reaches his right arm into the open flame and waits for his skin to darken. As it changes from pale to brown to black, he gestures with his other hand and spits out a sequence of ancient words. Removing the burnt arm from the fire, he moves it in a simple circle in the air, deftly wiggling the blackened fingers as he does so. The still flickering flame from the charred skin leaves a glowing trail in the air, while the finger gestures surround the circle with a curving, elegant sigil. The air within the circle shimmers briefly and sputters to black. “Damn!” he mutters in the local language – a brief curiosity flared: when had he started cursing in Rotan? He concentrates again and the skin on his hand fades from black to brown to gold, and finally into the native pale. If luck or some other force has shielded the twins, he would have to try one of the others. The planetouched siblings were the obvious choice…
