V2 Session Seven Bravo - 11 May 2007 - Ash and Líkami's babysitting duties

Note: This adventure used the “Forest Cliff Lair” map from Fantastic Locations: Dragondown Grotto, by Ed Stark, as published by Wizards of the Coast, LLC. However, all encounters were invented out of whole cloth.

9 March 1111

The evil goings-on at the cemetery cast a pall over the town of Kingsholm. In the midst of this, a well-connected young man named Vald incited a group of citizens to form a posse to “investigate” a group of foreigners who have been squatting on the baron's land outside of town. His logic is simple: They are thieves and squatters – therefore they are more likely than “decent citizens” to be behind the evil at the cemetery.

Mia, the captain of the town guard, suggested that it is highly unlikely that the foreigners are in any way involved. However, for political reasons, she could not curtail Vald's mission or send any of her sentinels. Instead, she felt the only way for him to get it out of his system was to go there and see for himself that these people were harmless. To avoid risk of injury, though, she asked the party to keep an eye on Vald and his bunch.

While the others prepared to return to the Barrow, Ash and Líkami decided to split from the main group to keep an eye on the villagers.

When they arrived at the foreigners' camp, though, they found the group cleaning up after a Goblin raid. One of them was dead and another, a young boy, had been abducted!

In the span of a few minutes, Vald's “posse” had become irrelevant – but a new threat had drawn the attention of the two heroes. Together with two women from their camp (Rianna, a Ranger and Ragna, a Sorcerer), the group followed the Goblin trail along a small stream to attempt a rescue.

Under a waterfall, they encountered six goblin archers, a pair of fiendish dire rats, an Imp, and an Ettercap.

The Goblins and Rats were killed (with difficulty), but the Imp turned invisible and escaped. Finally, the Ettercap was slain and the abducted boy was found alive.

Back at the camp, a woman named Cordelia, revealed herself to be a Druid and offered her services to the party as long as they agreed to pursue the “evil that is smothering this land”.
