Galin, the Boy King

Galin was the son of the much-loved Paladin Queen Carina II, who was killed by the Dark Mage in 1097, when Galin was only nine years old. Even though he is now an adult, he is sometimes still referred to as “the boy king”.

Galin assumed the crown under the supervision of his father, Vyner. However, in 1103, Vyner was assassinated and the fourteen-year-old Galin appointed an unknown (dig up name!) to be his new advisor. Many poor reforms followed and the great kingdom began to decline.

Even though the new advisor is revealed to have used magical influences on the boy, and his influence lasted less than four months, the damage done to the kingdom was significant, and Galin's court was weakened considerably.

The magic change in 1108 exacerbated Galin's weakness and now rival baronies repeatedly challenge each other – often resorting to military campaigns to settle their differences.
