On the far end of the world lies a posh resort known by the natives as “Luyu”. It is reachable only through a magical gate that was constructed by a pair of earth wizards a couple decades ago. These same wizards constructed a series of ward stones positioned around the resort complex and designed a spell that not only discourages the nearby goblins from invading, but also blocks the ever-present winds from ravaging the guests.

The natives thought the wizards fools to build on a flat field above a rocky cliff because of the risk from the goblins. But once the wards were proven to work, the natives became helpful servants and an integral part of the resort's success.

Flash forward to present day:

The resort is a financial success to its owners, and a trendy place for the wealthy to visit. Since winter is considered an off-season by the typical guest (who is accustomed to a tropical climate), the rates are reduced and visitors from all walks of life show up. The subjects of our great story are some of these people…

In the cold, pre-dawn of January 31, 1108, Aramil and Kesi rose earlier than usual with a sense that something was out of sorts. With the rest of the guests (and most of the staff) still asleep, they wandered outside to investigate and heard a soft "pop" to the north, just beyond the ring of buildings at the center of the resort.

Following the stream that flows through the resort, they headed off to investigate. As there is no natural water source atop the cliff, the stream emerges from a magical source created by the wizards who built the place and is an vital part of the resort. Before they made it out of the complex, though, they noticed that the water had stopped flowing.

They spotted the resort's wizard, Ogun, standing on the balcony of the tower and waved to him. He waved back, then returned inside. Seconds later, the great tower shuddered under its own weight and collapsed!

Though they would not learn this for some time, the calamity that befell the resort was caused by a vast, cosmic shift in the elemental energies that had its roots in a dramatic battle on a far distant planet - the name of which the group does not know - and may never learn.

The collapsing tower woke everybody up - except Roderick (an extremely sound sleeper). The guests, many still in their night gowns, congregated in the great hall and the staff managed to restore order and calm those who had panicked.

Cahil, the ranger, quickly took charge and coordinated the recovery efforts with the subjects of our story (who had proven themselves capable adventurers in previous outings). The group decided they must move down to Chesmu (the Dyanaî village) and Cahil sent them down (along with two rangers) to discuss it with the chief. The chief was amenable and the migration began.

Over the next few days, experiments were carried out by the spellcasters (mainly Bigby and Roderick) to determine the effects of the magic change. Within a week, simple spells were conquered and some reassurance was had.

On February 5th, a ranger patrol spotted some goblins nearby and the decision was made to track them down as best they could. Since the rangers have routine patrol pairings and Cahil didn't want to disrupt that, he sent the PC's out as a group by themselves.

On Februrary 6th, the group went out on a day trip. They encountered six goblin soldiers, and a leader riding a Worg. They succeeded in killing the entire group and hiding the bodies fairly effectively. Dhersion skinned the Worg and took its hide back with him.

XP awarded: 500 each, Running Total: 1,500. The combat was worth only 1200 total - which would have been no more than 200 each, but due to the extensive non-combat session and the fact that this was the first full session, I awarded an extra 300 on general principle.
