This is an old revision of the document!

"The Great Retcon"

When I started my gaming world in 1981, I was all of seventeen years old. Over the course of the next four years, it grew into essentially what you see on this wiki. But in the process, the stories that it covered became complex, cumbersome, and slightly silly.

Almost from the beginning, there were elements that happened in my “official” timeline that I regretted. So, when the 5th edition rules were announced – and I began contemplating a new campaign – I decided to “fix” these mistakes as best I could.

Thus was born “The Great Retcon”!

Over the course of 19 gaming sessions, the "Backbone Campaign" followed the clues and uncovered the story of Neville – a reluctant and simple-minded hero who was granted the power of time travel by "The Time Lord". His one goal was to save the city of Resh from its destruction in 1104. Such was his simple mind that he never fully understood that he was traveling in time. Instead, he felt that he was just trying again and again to save his adopted city.

In the end, with the help of the player characters, he succeeded. And the ripples this sent through the timeline forever altered both the future – and the past.

Now, if my campaign world ever comes back to life, I have the option of making it whatever I want. The convoluted (and silly) plot lines from the past can be removed and replaced with something more palatable.

Stay tuned. Perhaps if I get ambitious, I will document these changes here on the wiki…
