18 August 1145
After defeating the Invisible Stalker and ensuring that no more Quasits (or other threats) remained in the tower, the party had a long discussion with Liscaro, the Wizard, and Teeva, the Mayor about how all this happened.
They were told about the story of Armmar, a Dwarven Wizard who arrived at the town in May, 1142, a little over three years ago. He opened a shop that sold magical trinkets that were both amazing and inexpensive. While nobody knew it at the time, he was able to do this because he had learned of a secret ritual involving obsidian. Strangely, he packed up his shop in the middle of the night and left town after only about a year. He has not been seen since.
To learn more about the town, the party went to the Church of the Everlight and spoke with priestess Abahna. She and the Mayor decided a town meeting must be held top explain the situation. At this meeting, Teeva was able to quell the town's anger and she explained that the party defeated the Stalker and saved her and the (nominally) innocent wizard, Liscaro.
To give the party a temporary base of operations, Teeva granted them occupancy of Armmar's shop – empty even though his departure was over two years ago. She also handed over a small book that was found hidden at the shop. In it are notes about the obsidian ritual.

Tuotatm studied Armmar's book. In a preface to the ritual itself is a passage that states that “The obsidian ritual is a gift from the King in Yellow”.
Following the clues of Armmar's sudden departure, the party was introduced to a man named Hal, who was the only person to witness Armmar's departure. He described how Armmar was driving a cart drawn by two horses. There was a tarp covering what Hal assumed to be all of the wizard's posessions. The other strange part was that Armmar was alone – meaning he must have loaded the cart by himself.
Next, the party headed out to Gerome's farmhouse – where Armmar bought the cart and horses. However, it was learned that a “weird guy” made the purchase and paid with coins that had an unusual spider design on them.
Finally, the party spent the rest of the day talking to various people around town to better understand Armmar. They spoke with the sisters at the Beard & Barrels Brewery, some people at the “brothel”, and a banker named Ace – where they obtained a sample of the gold spider coin.
Abahna, the priestess, identifies the figure on the coin as a representation of the Drow goddess Lolth – and that the coins likely came from the Underdark.

For the next five days, the party stayed in Ironspell enjoying the hospitality of the grateful town.
Dravindi spread her plants around town and was able to take two books from Liscaro's library: One on dragons, and another on Translating Dwarvish and Halfling languages.
During this week, they also made a day trip up to the Keep on the Borderlands to retrieve the suit of magical Plate Armor that was left with the banker there.
