Hookridge
The city of Hookridge was and still is the “second city” of Backbone and is located roughly 20 miles up the river from The City of Edric. Its pre-war population was 11,000, but thanks to extensive refugee settlements outside the walls, the current population is closer to 20,000. It is the nearest city to the main portal for the region.
The city is ruled (some say harshly) by Clan Drayton. The head of the family, Thomasyn Drayton serves as “Grand Duke” and, while he theoretically serves Rathwyn, he has been known to defy her “suggestions” on numerous occasions. The city is divided in its support for the Draytons – mostly along ethnic lines (with the Lowland refugees usually against him).

During much of the resettlement period, Hookridge was home to the Rangers – though now that “civilization” is taking hold, their numbers have dwindled and their base of operations has been moved to Marsvan.
