Spoiler: The Beast turns out to be Keith Miller - a long-time minor superhero previously known as Megaguy and Neaderthroid. During the Rose City Five tryouts, Neanderthroid was shown his own death by 99. It is conjectured that this drove Miller to extreme anxiety, which led him to Dr. Anonymous and ultimately to his destruction.
