Having become disillusioned with AD&D, our group leapt to Fantasy Hero starting around 1985-1986. This was my first full campaign using Fantasy Hero rules and it centered on Pelham's quest for the Shadow Crystals (which he needed to regain his mortality).

Note: The shift to Fantasy Hero inspired the “magic change” storyline that came to have such a huge impact on the stories in subsequent campaigns (most notably, Voyager).
