The party heads off into the hills north of Sefni to track down the Doppelganger.

A group of Goblins begins harassing them, and while the party tries to ignore and avoid them as best they can, the Goblins persist and lead the party into an Ankheg ambush.

When the party kills the Ankheg, the Goblins are impressed and decide to talk (likely to avoid any risk from the obviously capable adventurers). The leader of this team of Goblins is “Neg” and he explains enthusiastically that this land belongs to the Goblins and that Humans are not allowed.

However, when the party explains that they are tracking a Doppelganger, the Goblins tell them of a lone (unknown) Goblin who wandered through a couple of days ago and went to an old stone circle. He was not seen after that. The party concludes this must have been the Doppelganger.

The Goblins escort the party to the stone circle, where, after some examination, it is determined to be some kind of non-standard Teleportation Circle.

Neg allows the party to spend the night – as long as they promise to leave the following morning. During further discussion, he tells them of “Athina”, a friendly Human Ranger who the Goblins greatly admire. Neg uses a magical illusion spell to show the party what Athina looks like.

The party returns to the ranch and discusses what they learned with Grace. She reveals that Athina is a well-known Ranger and that she is the eldest daughter of the Harra clan!

They then report to Duje and tell him about their tracking expedition – except the part about the stone circle. He pays them the agreed amount (though not the bonus for finding the Doppelganger).

They also ask about Athina, and Duje says the family has Sending Stones and that he will use them to send a message to Athina.
