====== The Immenri Campaign ====== For an overview of the world, see A Player's Handbook for the Third Age -- though I have not updated those pages in years and make no promises as to their accuracy. For Game rules notes, please see: Immenri Campaign Rules Notes. ==== Overview ==== When the wars displaced the wealthy Harra family from Lowland, they moved to the town of Restenford on Lendore Island. This positioned them in the perfect place to take advantage of the Twenty Portals when Kevin Arcana made them public in the year 1109. The patriarch of the family, Adrian Harra (along with his small private army), began exploring the land around the portal on the western shores of Immenri. There, they encountered the northern Orc tribes, and with a combination of strength and trade, were able to create a foothold and establish the town of Sefni (pronounced SEF-knee). As the move had exhausted nearly all of the family's resources, they began recruiting more settlers by offering "free land" -- even though they held no legal possession of the land in question. (Of course, from the colonizers’ perspective, neither did anybody else -- so who was going to complain!) Near Sefni are the ruins of a large, ancient city that thrived in the second age before the "end of the world". A river runs through it, and a massive waterfall (and small lake) are adjacent. Due to a series of unfortunate incidents soon after settlement, this ruined city is considered cursed by most of the locals. (Some monster lairs, dungeons, and actual magical effects reinforce this notion). While the original city’s name was "Ameland" (pronounced A-muh-lund), that name is known to only a handful of scholars, and most of the new residents simply call it "The City". ==== Timeline ==== * Spring 1109 -- Portals are revealed by Kevin Arcana * Year 0 -- Summer 1109 -- Harra family begins settling and adventurers begin exploring * Year 1 -- Summer 1110 -- Settlers begin arriving to claim the "free land"; Orcs begin harassing * Year 7 -- 1116 -- Peace treaty with Orc tribes * Year 8 -- 1117 -- Sefni city charter adopted; "Independent" government formed * Year 22 -- 29 Oct 1131 -- "The Blindness" event * Year 31 -- 1140 -- Death of Adrian Harra * Year 36 -- 1145 -- Present day ==== Maps ==== | | | | | ==== Towns ==== * **Sefni** -- The original town (and still the largest). Founded in Year 0. * **Eaststall** -– The first colonizer town other than Sefni. Home to the only lumber mill. Was meant to be a counter to the Harra family, but that plan has mostly failed due to economic pressure from the Harra-owned mill. * **Lastwall** -– Town farther down the coast (south of Sefni). The founders wanted to get rich by building a wall at a choke point and charging a toll. While this toll remains, the town is not well funded since people learned early on that there is not much opportunity to the south. * **Silverspire** -– A town above the waterfall. This town is more independent from Sefni than the others, but was constantly harassed by Orcs until several Orc clans decided to make it their base. It is now the place to go if you want to trade with the Orcs. Nearby is the godsfoot, so the town has a significant tourist trade. * **Eastpass** -– Mining town (mostly iron) * **Ironspell** -– Rebel scum; Ruled by a (insane?) wizard * **Roguevale** -– Struggling town trying to maintain independence from Sefni * **Grasscoast** -– Fishing village with nearby lighthouse. In addition to providing Sefni with fresh (and smoked) fish, ship building is an important part of this town’s identity. And expeditions up and down the coast are often launched from here. Zustrium ships are common here. Most are legitimate trading ships, but some are pirates angry with the colonizers encroaching on "their" seas. * **Flatwall** -– Town built adjacent to large cliffs in an attempt to make it safer. * **Emberhorn** -– Coastal village south of Sefni. The main source of Obsidian. * **Silkfall** -– Most northerly town; Interacts (mostly) peacefully with indigenous tribes. ==== Factions ==== * **The Harra Family** -- The wealthiest and most powerful faction in the region. They founded the town of Sefni, and their control extends over most of the region, including most other factions in one way or another. But cracks are starting to form. (See NPC list for specific members of the family). * **The Orcs** -- A variety of Orc tribes dominated these lands before the family arrived. Now, they are scrambling to maintain power and push back on the flood of new settlers coming in. However, infighting hampers their goals. * **The "Barbarians"** -- A small group of indigenous Human tribes live on this continent. Most of them occupy the lands on the northern coast and consider the ruined city by the portal to be "cursed" land, so there are few in this region. They were also kept out of this region by the Orcs, and some argue that the belief in the "curse" was an old lie spread to keep them from clashing with the Orcs. * **Goliaths** -- The rugged southern coast and hills above them are where the Goliath tribes live. * **Government** -- The citizens wanted some form of "independent" government, so the Harra family created a charter that allows for one. However, in practice, all political appointments are carefully controlled by the family, so independence is (currently) a myth. * **Religion (old world)** -- Since many of the citizens came originally from Lowland, the Olympian pantheon is the most prominent. However, other pantheons are honored, and small shrines are scattered throughout the region. The main church, though, is consecrated to the Olympians, and those clerics have much more power than others. * **Religion (new world)** -- A new religion has gained a foothold since "The Blindness". It claims that all pantheons are the same and that many gods overlap from one to another (just using different names). The old-world church considers this to be a form of blasphemy, and they are trying their best to squash this new church. However, its popularity is keeping it alive. * **Religion (indigenous)** -- The gods worshiped by the indigenous tribes were generally unknown to the colonists, but some have taken a liking to them. (See Deities of Greyhawk) * **Guilds** -- Many different guilds work in the region, using the portals to import and export products. The miners' guild is one of the more powerful, as there are many nearby mines, mainly for a quality iron ore that is becoming popular back in "civilization". ==== Dramatis personae ==== ^ Player Characters ^^^^ | **Amirah** | Human/F Rogue (Criminal) | Becky | | | **Iniko Evenstar** | Human/M Monk (Wayfarer) | David | | | **Tuotatm** | Wood Elf/M Sorcerer (Acolyte) | Dominic | | | **Dravindi** | Goliath/? Morally ambiguous; In it only for the money. Will protect her family and holdings at all costs. Power has been slipping ever since her husband died five years ago. Her son, Dimos, is especially challenging her, though he is wise enough to do so surreptitiously. | | **Athina Harra** | Human/Female | Eldest daughter of Vassia and Adrian. Ranger who spends most of her time away from Sefni. | | **Dimos Harra** | Human/Male | The family brought with them a respect (and worship) of the Olympic pantheon. Dimos, though, has developed an affinity for Hades, despite (and probably because) worship of him is forbidden in so many locales. He seems to want to overthrow his grandmother and take control of the family. | | **Despina Harra** | Human/Female | Lesser member of main family: The black sheep; She was born here but considers what the family is doing to be morally wrong. Although she has little power, she is unwilling to go against her grandmother publicly. | | **Duje Ranoga** | Human/Male | A spokesman (some say "fixer") for the Harra family. //Extremely// pragmatic. Rarely shows emotion and always negotiates for the betterment of the family. | | **Endrita**, the Portalmaster | Human/Female | She is responsible for monitoring the portal and selling access gems. Allied with Pylrum. | | **Pylrum** | Human/Male | Arcanist/Scholar. He is an educational master who runs a school as his day job, but whose life’s work is to uncover the secrets of the Alaî empire. Supported by the Harra family, but not beholden to them. Has a magical tattoo on his arm, wears expensive clothing, and has an arcane familiar: a black cat named Marzipan who often wears a tiny backpack. | | **Isso** | Dragonborn/Female | On a quest to contact an ancient dragon that lives in the region. | | **Rose Marsh** | Human/Female | Mysterious Arcanist of unknown origin. She is ethnically different from both the colonists and the indigenous. | | **Fleg Mordolet** | Human/Male | Owner and operator of Mordolet's Trading Post. Run under charter from the Harra family, this shop routinely imports goods through the portal from Restenford on Lendore Island. Most everything in the PHB can be bought here (though much is done indirectly via subsidiaries elsewhere in town). | ==== Sessions ==== ^ Game Date ^ Campaign Date ^ Session ^ Description ^ Level ^ | 11 July 2025 | -- | Session Zero | Introductions and Information | -- | | **Chapter One -- Deception** ||||| | 25 July 2025 | 25 July 1145 | Session #1 | The Heist | 1 | | 8 Aug 2025 | 25 July 1145 | Session #2 | Fires at the Ranch | 1 | | 15 Aug 2025 | 25-27 July 1145 | Session #3 | Investigation | 2 | | 5 Sep 2025 | 27-28 July 1145 | Session #4 | Tracking | 2 | | **Chapter Two -- Borderlands** ||||| | 3 Oct 2025 | 29 July - 5 Aug 1145 | Session #5 | Overland | 2 | | 17 Oct 2025 | 5-7 Aug 1145 | Session #6 | The Keep on the Borderlands | 2 | | 31 Oct 2025 | 7 Aug 1145 | Session #7 | Mapping Expedition | 2 | | 14 Nov 2025 | 8-9 Aug 1145 | Session #8 | Dragon Rescue | 2 | | 28 Nov 2025 | 9 Aug 1145 | Session #9 | The Nothic's Research | 3 | | 12 Dec 2025 | 9-10 Aug 1145 | Session #10 | The Minotaur's Cave | 3 | | 26 Dec 2025 | 10-11 Aug 1145 | Session #11 | Ogre v.
