=== 9 August 1145 ===

A new adventurer, Ariel, joins the party -- after following them from the Keep.

The group finishes exploring Cave B, where they encounter a Mimic disguised as a treasure chest.

They move on to Cave C, but before entering, Tuotatm casts a //[[https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2618993-comprehend-languages|Comprehend Languages]]// spell.  Inside, beyond some arcane symbols etched into the walls, they find a damaged ritual chamber and a library.  In the latter room, they discover a book that describes the "Chaos Bell", which they deduce is causing the occasional chiming noise ringing throughout the valley.  Dravindi gets lost in the library for a while and secures a handful of books to take with her.

They find and kill a Carrion Crawler before entering a room where they meet a strange man with one large eye, who is performing arcane experiments.  Tuotatm casts //[[https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2619099-detect-thoughts|Detect Thoughts]]// and learns that this creature is a "Nothic" who is trying to understand why he is here in these caves.  It seems as though the caves may have been pulled here from elsewhere -- but even the Nothic is uncertain as to how or why.

Since the party has killed the Carrion Crawler that pestered him, the Nothic agrees to let them take any treasure found on a Dwarf "thief" he killed recently -- which includes a suit of [[https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/5377-armor-1|magical Plate Armor]].

The party then leaves, but on the way out finds a locked room containing more treasure -- which they promptly loot before leaving the cave.

Back to the Keep for a rest.
